Sometime in early 1976 as I was leaving my favorite watering hole O’Neal’s, on Columbus Ave off of 72^nd street in NYC, someone called my name. It was an old friend from The School of Visual Arts. He was sitting with an attractive young lady over cocktails. He introduced Sue Richards to me. Sue (a porn star) was about to embark on a new venture with a new “men’s” magazine, High Society, as the “acting” publisher. She needed a headshot for the masthead of the magazine, and my friend who was a photographer in his own right, had to leave for an assignment in Europe and asked if I could do the headshot ASAP. I’m trying to make this a short story, bear with me. I successfully photographed Sue that week. She was very pleased with the outcome and asked if I ever did a “girlie shoot” before. I replied that I haven’t. She gave me an assignment that same week. The photoshoot was a success. High Society had a sister magazine, “Cheri.” Sue sent me over to that magazine to talk to the Editor-in-Chief, Peter Wolff, who saw my photoshoot I did for her, and wanted me to do one for him. The rest is history. For the next 7 years I photographed for High Society, Cheri, Swank, Genesis, Partner, Stag, Purple, Oui and Penthouse. Ask me if I had fun…. go ahead, ask me.
